• Research Collaboration — University of Birmingham

Coda Workshop is working in collaboration with the University of Birmingham on a research project that bridges digital modelling and real-time sensor monitoring — bringing together architectural practice and academic expertise to better understand the performance of sustainable design in use.

The project connects digital models of retrofit strategies with live sensor data feeds, enabling continuous monitoring of how buildings actually perform once occupied. This integration allows for ongoing analysis, refinement and validation — moving beyond theoretical modelling to evidence-based understanding of real-world outcomes.

The collaboration sits at the intersection of practice and academia, contributing to the next generation of tools and methodologies for sustainable architecture and retrofit. It builds directly on Coda Workshop's broader commitment to research, innovation and the measurable improvement of the built environment.
