New-Build Community Centre — Barford, Warwickshire
The Barford Youth and Community Centre is a new-build community hub designed to serve all generations of a growing village — a welcoming, flexible and sustainable building at the heart of community life in Barford, Warwickshire.
The brief called for a building that could adapt as the community grows — accommodating a wide range of users, activities and groups without feeling institutionalised or unwelcoming. Inclusivity and accessibility were central from the outset, shaping every aspect of the design from entrance sequence to spatial layout. The building provides flexible spaces for youth groups, scouting, indoor sports, baby and toddler groups, elderly gatherings and community events — spaces that reduce isolation, encourage connection and support wellbeing across all stages of life.
Environmental responsibility is embedded in the design. Energy-efficient fabric, high-performance insulation and renewable energy integration ensure the building is as sustainable as it is welcoming — a community asset built to last. The result is a building that belongs to its community — inclusive, adaptable and designed for the long term. A place where friendships are formed, groups gather and connections across generations are made.
